In this graphic psychodrama, a grief-stricken man and woman retreat to a cabin deep in the woods after the accidental death of their infant son, only to find terror and violence at the hands of nature and, ultimately, each other. But this most confrontational work yet from one of contemporary cinema's most controversial artists is no mere provocation. It is a visually sublime, emotionally ravaging journey to the darkest corners of the possessed human mind.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Horrific, tough watch submitted by brooksza on August 15, 2022, 11:45am That was certainly impactful. At one point she leans in for a kiss and I instinctively covered my eyes and looked away. Multiple times, sitting alone I proclaimed "f***".

I hated the experience but this movie accomplished what it set out to do. The first half was actually a really interesting look at grief after a tragedy. And the tragedy is horrific. Willem Dafoe was subdued and really good especially in the first half.

Not sure I quite got the very end but this definitely shows the power of cinema.
