The Horrors of War and Turmoil of Battles
submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on July 18, 2020, 11:14am
I wish I'd watched this prior to my 2012 visit to Turkey, specifically Çanakkale peninsula.
If ever there was a combat/campaign from which to gain knowledge of what not to do, it is the Gallipoli campaign to occupy Constantinople.
All the parties— the French, Winston Churchill, the British Army officer Ian Hamilton — made a pig's breakfast of it, and in the course of action hundreds of thousands of young men were slaughtered and wounded to no serviceable military end.
