Christmas (Cookies) Around the World submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2022, 6:29pm This picture book looks at Christmas traditions throughout the world through a highly specific (yet very interesting) lens, focusing specifically on what children tend to leave for the people who bring them presents. The book follows an east-west trajectory, beginning on Christmas Island and ending in Hawai’i, and covers typical Christmas night traditions as well as the all-important baked goods. The illustrations include some nice cultural and geographic details, although I found the representations of children to be a little inconsistent. Complete with recipes and including some fascinating linguistic details in the names of Santa (and Santa-like) figures, this is a great and somewhat unique introduction to multicultural Christmas customs.
