Like Milk and Honey... submitted by DBJC on June 15, 2018, 3:58pm This collection of poetry is divided into similar sections as her first book, and also continues to evolve around themes discussed in her first collection. They are about the same in length with a couple of poems longer than the others, but it's pretty much the same as her first book. Like her first book, I didn't really care much about some of the poems because of their brevity; they seemed like they were snippets out of a diary. There isn't anything bad about this, but sometimes the poems fill a bit incomplete. But still, they are (must I dare say) "relatable" which is something that I need now and then in a work of poetry.

Beautiful submitted by zoe.dvh on June 21, 2018, 12:03pm If you haven't checked out her first book ("Milk and Honey") you're definitely missing out on the stunning poetry of this amazing author. This book has a very similar tone to "Milk and Honey" and is filled with the same passion and beauty. It is also accompanied by some gorgeous simple illustrations, which I find to be a truly wonderful pairing. I highly recommend! Definitely go give this one a read.

Picked Up Book On a Whim, Gobbled It Right Up submitted by chknight on June 28, 2019, 3:53pm A friend and I were looking for books to read together at the Downtown Branch and saw this book on a display in the main lobby. We picked it up on a whim and ended up finishing it the same day we checked it out. I've seen various Rupi Kaur poems floating around the internet and this was my first time reading one of her full books. The organization of the book takes readers on journey of heartbreak and rebirth. The poetry features strong feminist themes, revolving around sexism, sexual assault, and body shame and how she slowly started to overcome those issues. It's an inspiring read and highly relatable as someone who has also dealt with those issues. I can't recommend it enough!

beautiful and inspiring submitted by annabanana11 on August 23, 2019, 10:27pm I love the way Rupi Kaur writes and composes her poems in order to convey such a specific emotion. Always makes me think.

Slightly better than Milk and Honey submitted by Princess Cimorene on July 21, 2020, 2:15am There is a little bit more of a distinct voice in some of these poems, but I still struggled to find uniqueness in a lot of them. I want poems to make me think "wow, I wish I thought of that phrasing" or "what a gorgeous way to express that idea"...I want to be surprised by the language, and for the most part, I wasn't. I like brevity, but not if it is devoid of personality.

Awesome! submitted by sandri on July 22, 2022, 5:07pm Awesome!
