Guinea pigs! submitted by FordAlpha on August 31, 2019, 10:58pm I loved this version of the "Princess and the Pea" with a very usual setting: the Peruvian Andes. Though Spanish words are liberally mixed in, the rhyming text never falters in meter nor fails to make sense. (The Spanish words are highlighted with different color/font and are also defined in the back.) The story receives some welcome updates to give the princess and prince agency in choosing their fate/mate. The illustrations really make this story come alive. Each character has a distinctive personality and there is a lot of humor, along with eye-catching details of the setting and clothing. My favorite detail, though, is the cute guinea pigs that share nearly every page with the human protagonists.
