Ripley again, watered down a bit submitted by boothman on September 8, 2023, 11:46am I'm a big fan of Highsmith's writing and especially her Ripley novels. The quality of writing here is up to par, but the plot seems a little thin on believability and more importantly, connecting what makes the Ripley character so compelling with the plot as it unfolds. He seems less a protagonist and more a character that benefits from chance. You need a grounding with previous Ripley stories to appreciate and understand this one. Not a waste of time, but not as page-turning compelling a tale as previous Ripley stories.
