In an alternate version of present-day Manhattan, magic is dying, and Esta, a Mageus with a talent for manipulating time, travels back to 1901 to stop the destruction of a book that can possibly restore magic, but in Old New York, Esta must navigate gangs, secret societies, and her feelings for another magician in order to save the future of magic.

Worth Reading! submitted by ajstemp on June 27, 2018, 1:38pm Truthfully, I was on board with this book until the very ending, and I am less interested in reading the sequel than I was in reading this one. Regardless, this book puts a unique twist on time travel that doesn't feel as "mind bendy" as it does in other books. The relationships between characters are interesting, compelling, and real, and the setting is intriguing and worth diving into.
