Nostalgia for an hour ago -- The class of 2001 -- The new global underground -- Birth of Brooklyn -- "New York, I love you but you're bringing me down."
"Meet Me in the Bathroom charts the transformation of the New York music scene in the first decade of the 2000s, the bands behind it--including The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Interpol, and Vampire Weekend-- and the cultural forces that shaped it, from the Internet to a booming real estate market that forced artists out of the Lower East Side to Williamsburg. Drawing on 200 original interviews with James Murphy, Julian Casablancas, Karen O, Ezra Koenig, and many others musicians, artists, journalists, bloggers, photographers, managers, music executives, groupies, models, movie stars, and DJs who lived through this explosive time, journalist Lizzy Goodman offers a fascinating portrait of a time and a place that gave birth to a new era in modern rock-and-roll."--Amazon.com.

Fascinating submitted by Jae Garcia on August 13, 2022, 7:36pm Behind the scenes of some wonderful bands. Things you learned about who you liked to listen to is definitely worth the read.

Losing My Edge submitted by npcamp on July 26, 2023, 9:41am Before reading this book, I didn't really think of the early 2ks as an era worth feeling nostalgic about -do we really need a Kings of Leon or the Vines retrospective- but the author does an excellent job highlighting what made this era unique and interesting. The book covers a wide array of bands and ostensibly an entire decade, but it's really aimed at NYC from 2000-2006: the Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. If that's your jam, you'll love this book.

Great Look at Early 00's NYC Rock submitted by danzoia on August 11, 2023, 1:46pm An oral history of the indie rock music scene in the early aughts' in NYC. Very interesting insights from those that were there, musicians, journalists, etc.
