Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she's more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma's inexplicable obsession with her finding the "Ideal Indian Husband." Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn't have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers ... right? Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him -- wherein he'll have to woo her -- he's totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself. The Shahs and Patels didn't mean to start turning the wheels on this "suggested arrangement" so early in their children's lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not? Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

Cute summer read! submitted by zixyxuan on July 24, 2017, 8:09pm This was definitely my favorite book that I read for the 24in48 readathon. It was JUST SO FREAKING CUTE! I know there are a lot of people that say Dimple was rude to her parents and Rishi for the first half of the novel. But honestly, as a daughter of immigrant parents, I can see where she was coming from. Now that I am older, I know when to ignore comments and establish a better relationship with them, but I think I was probably just as bad as Dimple at her age.

Obviously, this wasn't a perfect love story (I didn't give it 5 stars), because I didn't understand how fast Rishi fell for Dimple, but I guess that also has to do with the fact that he had been in love with the idea of her even before they met. And can I just point out that Rishi is like the perfect boyfriend? He has found his place in the world and treats Dimple with the respect that she has always been seeking from her parents. Even his imperfections, such as his relationship with his brother, are endearing.

Overall, I thought this was a really cute and quick read, and I would definitely recommend it for the summer.

Overall rating: 4.5 Stars

Adorable. submitted by einna95a on July 30, 2017, 9:45pm This books was definitely enjoyable however I found the dialogue to be very unrealistic and it often pulled me away from the story. I was also uninterested in the plot and found it to be predictable. I enjoyed the characters and thought they were unique in YA but they weren't couched in the right story for me.

Overall: 4/5 stars

A fun read with a lovable flawed protagonist submitted by Jinxyluis on July 22, 2018, 1:49am This book was as sweet and fun to read as I expected, and it was exciting to read a story all about a young woman with a passion for computer science.

Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 30, 2018, 4:36pm This was a fun summer romance that was simple and nice.

too teenager-y for me submitted by TeacherN on July 27, 2019, 12:19pm As a middle school teacher, I read a lot of middle grade and YA novels. I was excited about the ethnicity of the characters since I teach many students of East Indian descent, but this novel just fell flat for me. It felt like it was trying too hard to reach the teen audience. Maybe teens will like it, but I didn't.

Great idea but poor execution submitted by comet on June 28, 2022, 5:24pm I really like the overall setup of the story and the writer's style. The characters and their interactions are very comical and make for a very entertaining read. However, the strong beginning leads the whole plot of the book to drag out, starting from the middle. The story was sweet, but unrealistic and too heavily geared toward the teen audience. If you're seeking a story more centered around Indian culture, this book might not be the best fit.
