Don't pave paradise! submitted by FordAlpha on August 11, 2019, 9:12pm Like other picture books by Emily Gravett, "Tidy" is humorous, charming, and ironic. It has more of a "message" than most of her books, but the environmental lesson is well cloaked in silliness. Badger Pete is obsessed with tidiness, exerting every effort to keep his forest home and its inhabitants neat and sanitary. Alas, he goes to devastating extremes, ultimately paving over his home. Brought to his senses, Pete gets his friends to help restore the forest. The rhyming text is not too wordy, and it nicely complements the lively illustrations.
