Gets WAY More Mileage Out of the Premise Than I Expected submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 10:47am This book is absolutely hilarious, but will probably only work for slightly older readers with a strong sense of humor who are already familiar with the game rock, paper, scissors. Drew Daywalt imagines the unlikely circumstances that would find the three warriors in combat with one another and Adam Rex’s illustrations use comics and anime visual conventions to convey thrilling action and create running gags that make the most of the script. The juxtaposition of a silly storyline and humorous layouts with quasi-realistic 3D illustrations adds another element of fun to the book. This probably doesn’t have easy universal appeal, but the right readers will get a kick out of it.
