Mercedes in Czechia submitted by sdunav on June 18, 2017, 12:28pm This is #10 in an urban fantasy series set in the Columbia River area of Washington state, though this volume is mostly set in Italy and Prague, Czechia. It’s a nice addition to the Mercedes Thompson stories, but I don’t recommend it as a starting point.

The good makes up for the bad. submitted by eknapp on June 30, 2017, 9:42am Briggs is terrific at making byzantine supernatural-community politics engaging and easy to read, but she's terrible at feel-good openings and all-is-well endings. I came very close to quitting the series after the first five pages, and again with just three pages left.

But the stuff in between was quite a ride.
