Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn't solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it's not just a game of win or lose ... it's life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown. If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can't make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens' every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest ... but she may be the darkest.

Fun Read! submitted by ajstemp on June 27, 2018, 12:09pm I picked this book at random, and it turned out to be an extremely fun read! The premise was interesting, and the author handles the three separate story lines well. It was a light read, and I would definitely recommend it.
book club read with great plot submitted by Sabrina Carlson on July 20, 2018, 2:48am my teenage friends and i started reading this as our first book in our new book club. at first i was tentative, but i read a sample and was intrigued. now I'm about 50-30 pages from the end and i can say this is an amazing book with a captivating plot! each of the three storylines provide intrigue, romance, and adventure while still tying it together with a triplet bond. the three sisters have very unique, interesting and different attitudes and spirit. i will definitely finish the series and I'm very grateful my friend recommend it for our club!
Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 29, 2018, 1:02pm An interesting premise with lots of drama. That said, once you dig a little deeper the world really stops making sense.

Three Dark Crowns - Kept Me Reading
submitted by EuniceWe on June 12, 2021, 9:29pm
I thought Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake was a fun read that really kept me reading. There were so many twists and turns and all the characters are so fascinating. It is written in the 3 main characters perspectives (Arsinoe, Mirabella, and Katherine) and you could see what each of them were doing. Kendare Blake does a really great job weaving these 3 characters stories together while keeping each of them with their own secrets and independent lives. Overall I thought this was a pretty good start to the series and it was really fun to discuss with my friends!
