"When the space station Heimdall is invaded, Hannah and Nik must work together to defeat the enemy"-- Provided by publisher.
On board the Jump Station Heimdall, Hanna is the captain's pampered daughter; Nik a member of a notorious crime family. While they are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion. When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two. The fate of the Hypatia-- and possibly the known universe-- is in their hands.

Great Pacing; Good Middle Book submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 11:08pm Like its predecessor, this book spins its story from a group of documents such as chat logs, transcribed surveillance footage, and reports, and somehow the trick still works despite the authors’ reliance on the same few types of records. For a trilogy midpoint, the story is remarkably well-contained, even as it expands the scope of the narrative universe introduced in the first book. The plot has a remarkable amount of suspense despite its reliance on well-worn tropes and a familiar structure, so much so that I completely forgot about a Big Twist that was pretty obvious when its idea was first introduced, and its overall construction feels much more deliberate. This is a carefully paced, slow-burn thriller in a constrained environment; as such, it makes an excellent companion, and foil, to Illuminae’s more dramatic, frantic, throw-everything-at-the-plot-to-see-what-sticks approach. I don’t think this book would quite work as a standalone, but it offers a nice payoff for readers who may be on the fence after a somewhat scattered, yet surprisingly effective, Illuminae, and promises great things to come in a no-doubt explosive finale.
