Useful guide submitted by Ilyjtwya on August 9, 2012, 3:40am This guide had information about running for women who are just beginning, to those who are training for marathons. I found the safety tips, stretches, and strength training exercises to be especially useful. It is written in a personal voice, and quite a bit of explanation was provided.
Thorough and Accessible submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2019, 10:40pm As the title promises, this book offers a fairly comprehensive introduction to running, with a particular focus on subjects specific to runners who identify as women (ranging from the importance of choosing a proper sports bra to the deleterious effects that societal expectations can have on body image). The information is presented via clear, informative text with a personal touch that keeps it highly approachable for beginners without condescension. With chapters touching on reasons for running, training plans for everyone from beginners to seasoned runners considering a marathon, cross-training and stretches, dietary considerations, and more, this guide is gentle, yet essential, reading for aspiring and current runners alike.
