Charming summer story submitted by tuttlium on July 26, 2023, 7:51am I was always jealous of Julian and Portia and the secret, magical world of Gone-Away Lake that they discover one summer. Travel back in time to mid century upstate New York, and then travel back in time to late 19th century lake culture with the young characters when they visit the disappeared lake still inhabited by two of the original holiday makers. I loved this book as a kid (upper elementary and middle grade) and still periodically reread it today.
