COMMUNITY REVIEWS

mystery and history submitted by camelsamba on June 22, 2016, 10:39pm Friendship, trust, community, loyalty, family - set against mean girls, the Cold War, McCarthyism, loyalty oaths, and union busting. This book was fun, even if I could see through some of the plot lines. I'm pretty sure my 12 year old son would have enjoyed it as well, and might have been more surprised by the twists / resolutions. I'm sure I would have loved this when I was the target audience age - I plowed through Nancy Drew books myself (although not Trixie Belden), and enjoy spy stories. My only disappointment is that I would have liked to go back and re-read certain sections, which wasn't easy to do since I listened to it as a book on CD. And there were times when I felt like certain details were anachronistic - I probably would have looked them up if I'd had a print edition, so perhaps it is better for my sanity that I did not!
