"Melanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura are finally living out their dream as the proud owners of the Fairy Tale Cupcakes bakery. Their first big order is a sweet deal, too--five hundred cupcakes for a fashion designer's wedding. The only sour note is the demanding bridezilla who insists on original recipes for the cupcakes. When Mel stumbles upon the bride-to-be dead-by-cupcake, she immediately becomes the prime suspect. The police believe that a secret ingredient in the cupcakes caused her death. To save Mel and their business, the ladies need to find the real murderer--before the cupcake killer ices someone else..."--P. [4] of cover.

a book as light as buttercream submitted by articia on October 18, 2010, 5:34pm This was a good book if you're looking for a light read, but I couldn't give it more than 3 out of 5 stars since I feel like it was almost too light. I didn't feel like I got to know the characters very well. I'm usually very good at creating a visual in my head for characters and settings, but I wasn't able to do that with this book. It's possible that "Sprinkle with Murder" is just one of those (soon to be) series where it feels like each book is more of a section of one long book and you don't get the whole story, or all the details and feelings by just reading one.

I did like that the author included recipes for the cupcakes mentioned in the book, but other than that, the book is more of a murder mystery where the prime suspect just happens to work at a cupcakery.

I look forward to reading then next book when my library purchases it and hope that it gets better.

Humorous & light-hearted! submitted by mcreader on June 18, 2013, 7:23am OK 1st book for author. Easy reading and very laid-back characters. Simplistic mystery and combines a bit of romance. Enjoy!

Wonderful start to the series!! submitted by ValerieL on July 6, 2018, 5:37pm This is the first book in the Fairy Tale Cupcakes series by Jenn McKinlay. It's a great start to the series. :) I love the series. It's a great cozy mystery series. This isn't a series for your hard core mystery fan, but if you're looking for a light mystery with some fun, this is a great choice!
