Good, but a few niggling problems submitted by smariej on August 7, 2012, 5:21pm Overall, I thought this book was pretty good. It takes advantage of the current gourmet cupcake trend, and some of the recipe ideas in there sound delicious. However, I'm not sure how keeping a key event of one of the main characters a secret (which completely informed her whole character arc in the entire book) was helpful. There was one of two events that could have happened, but letting the reader wonder actually made me think a lot less of her character for her choices that followed until it was explained towards the end. Also, combining a family drama with a death mystery also seemed a little too crowded of plotlines.

Was a very entertaining read, but remember to keep an open mind about Julia at first.
