Few Words, Much Story submitted by Meginator on June 11, 2021, 6:09pm For a book that only uses three words (and only two different words), this story takes readers through a surprising range of emotions and even a few surprises. Readers are left to figure out what’s happening along the way, and the true joy of the book comes from figuring out the nuances of what “duck, duck, moose!” means in a given context and seeking contextual clues in the delightful illustrations, which squeeze a lot of detail out of a simple style. Sure, it’s repetitive, but it’s also really clever and had me, an adult reading this silently to myself, laughing out loud on nearly every page. This is an exceptionally good read-aloud choice, especially for readers/listeners who enjoy actively participating in the process.
