Moving submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 22, 2012, 12:07pm A great picture book about a transgender child who loves beauty. I highly recommend this book for children and adults alike. Reading it moves one to show compassion for those whom society casts out.
Wonderful book with a wonderful ending.

This book is about a girl named bailey who just happens to have been born as a boy. Bailey dreams every night about dresses and attempts to get her family to give her one but each time they tell her that she is a "Boy". Eventually Bailey meets Laurel who is trying to make dresses and together they make dresses from Bailey's dreams and Bailey gets to finally wear the dresses she has dreamt about. This book is one that deals with transgender issues and in a very obvious way. The book is charming in its own manner and it gives the reader space to empathize with bailey and her predicament.
I love this book and highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in transgender books or books about dresses, or books about achieving your dreams.
Great pronoun use! submitted by Xris on August 26, 2019, 1:13am I love how they use "she" throughout the book because that's how Bailey identifies. Sad her family doesn't see that, but nice that a neighbor does.
