Great Humor, Sneaky Educational Content submitted by Meginator on July 25, 2022, 11:33am This charming board book makes excellent use of Sandra Boynton’s unique illustration style, her wicked sense of humor, and her penchant for catchy, simple rhythmic text. A series of dinosaurs drawn in Boynton’s inimitable puffy style demonstrate several pairs of opposites, including some concepts that will be familiar to younger audiences but which aren’t often covered in books like this; the selection, along with a singsong rhythm that allows for a couple changes of pace, makes the book a pleasant change of pace from a lot of board book fare (and even from Boynton’s more simplistic books). I sang, I laughed, I assume I would have learned had I not had decades of reading experience behind me. This is a gem: it’s Sandra Boynton at her best.
