The author's most political novel since The Cider House Rules and A Prayer for Owen Meany, this novel is an intimate and unforgettable portrait of the solitariness of a bisexual man who is dedicated to making himself "worthwhile."

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Hard read submitted by hcf on July 1, 2012, 6:00pm I tried to like this book; however, I just could not get into it. The main character had little appeal and it was a struggle.

Culturally important read submitted by ginarae3 on August 9, 2012, 2:16pm I love John Irving. He always creates a story that draws me in. I love his style in telling you the story of the entire person's life. This book met with my expectations. I enjoyed reading it and about the character's quirky family, his irregular upbringing, and his LGBTQ lifestyle.

not for me submitted by unknown on August 24, 2012, 6:18am I usually like John Irving's book---not this one...too many italics, too many chiches, not enough story
