Trekking the night sky -- The Terran system -- Strange new worlds -- Sailing to the stars -- Clouds among the stars -- The edge of forever -- Navigating the night sky.
The characters of the Star trek television programs and movies go boldly among the stars-- but how much of what they tell us is accurate? Fazekas compares the Federation's technology with our own, and provides scientifically accurate accounts of the realms and star charts that the Enterprise uses to explore the solar system, nebulae, and more.

Good astronomy book, bad Trekkie book submitted by shumoon on February 5, 2017, 8:17pm This is a good astronomy book, but it fails to make the connection with the Star Trek franchise. Each chapter describes plots of the movies/TV show episodes, but that has little to do with the astronomical phenomenon discussed in that chapter. I would have liked more discussion on the Star Trek planet classification system (Earth is a Class M planet, but what class is Jupiter?). If this book gets someone interested in serious astronomy, then it has done its job. However, I don't think it will make astronomers into Trekkies.
