Not my style submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 18, 2021, 8:58pm Another completely random grab off the library shelf, just to try something new.

It's about stereotypes, misconceptions, and expectations, particularly in the Korean-American community and regarding money. It also seems to be a lot about sex and unfaithfulness, which didn't really appeal to me. There's almost no closure, which is like life, but doesn't make great reading. The writing style was also choppier than most of what I've been reading lately, and early on the point of view would change -- sometimes for a single paragraph! -- in ways that felt abrupt and disruptive.

So it wasn't a bad book, but it didn't appeal to me, either. I'm unlikely to try this author again.

Very detailed submitted by jachi on July 9, 2022, 6:36pm The writing style is different with the story being told by an omniscient narrator. She writes with such rich details that I can picture what the characters are wearing or the locations where they are at and even feel the emotions that the characters feel.

For min jin lee lovers submitted by rincess on August 9, 2022, 11:32am Did you love pachinko? did it leave you wanting more? welcome to Min Jin Lee's earlier writing. My whole family had read Pachinko and also enjoyed Free Food for Millionaires-- my mom still often brings up the main character and her outfits and love for books.
