In 1899, a fifteen-year-old orphan named Hannah obtains employment as a servant in the home of one of Boston's wealthiest families, where she meets a noted portrait painter who seems to know things about her that even she is not aware of, and when she accompanies the family to their summer home in Maine, she feels an undeniable pull to the sea.

A Waste of Time submitted by catlover17 on July 19, 2013, 9:34am This book was reaaaaaally boring. I ended up reading it in about thirtt minutes, because i read the first three chapters, got really boredand skipped to the ending. I didn't feel like i missed anything, since i later skimmed through the middle, and all they did was talk. I had expected an adventure/romance book, but thrre was NO ADVENTURE at all, and the 'romance' is about a young girl (and yes, girl, because she is not even close to being a woman) getting hit on by some older guy. If this book were set in modern times, it would be about a freshman dating a college student. Ew. So don't bother to read this book, especially not if you're still in middle school, because it can give some young girls a seriously messed up idea that it is acceptable in modern society to date a guy that's four years older than you, even if all he's ever done to win you over was creep around behind you.

Blah :( submitted by iamnotonfire on February 6, 2014, 3:11pm A hard read i couldn't understand what was happening with the tear-drops.
