the power in a name submitted by kathleen824 on July 26, 2013, 3:44pm I read Four Souls having had a taste of Louise Erdrich's powerful story telling in "The Beet Queen" I have to say this author has me hooked. Her ability to tell a story that speaks so powerfully to me is refreshing. Her characters are layered and ripe with humanity. In "Four Souls" the story of a woman who has lost everything seeks revenge upon the man who stole her land. And in her quest to obtain that which was lost... she loses herself and then..............?
Recommended submitted by sushai on July 18, 2019, 10:01am This is one of several books where Erdrich writes about the same characters. This one focuses mostly on Fleur, told alternately from the point of view of two other characters. I really liked this book more than the others, but I'm not sure if it's a better book or because as I've been reading, the holes are being filled in more and I understand the characters better. I believe all of the books are stand-alones, but maybe the reader is meant to go in a certain order.
