5stars submitted by kjurgle on June 17, 2014, 11:50am Very good book
awesome submitted by aparna70 on June 26, 2014, 5:16pm great fiction.
Vacationers submitted by hcf on August 26, 2014, 9:23pm I liked this story. Made me wish I had a friend with a beautiful villa in Mallorca where I could spend my summer.
a breezy read submitted by eapearce on December 23, 2014, 11:53am When I first finished The Vactioners, I had mixed emotions. I had enjoyed it but was left feeling a little unsettled--as if nothing had really happened. It's now a few weeks later as I write this review and I look back on the book with pleasure. Straub does a great job of capturing the emotions of each of the characters and quietly revealing to readers both the predictable and the surprising parts of human nature. Although some experiences in the book are actually devastating, Straub doesn't get hung up on them but instead approaches them with just the right amount of humor, while not diminishing their significance. The simple cast of characters was perfect and the stunning descriptions of Mallorca were nothing to complain about either! This slim novel is a perfect escape, and ideal for reading during these dark winter days.
Beach Read submitted by thegretch on July 5, 2016, 7:54pm I was on vacation reading this and felt it perfect for reading on the beach.
Interesting, But Not Lasting submitted by Meginator on August 24, 2017, 3:13pm I found this book to be surprisingly intriguing, and I was invested in each of the characters' plotlines throughout the book. Ultimately, this book isn't one that necessarily sticks with you, but it's entertaining enough in the moment and probably worth a read if you think you'll like it based on the description.
Family Fun submitted by Weekenders18 on August 30, 2019, 4:32pm This story is about a family with adult children who don't want to go on this family vacation. After 2 weeks of fun the family is really close and enjoy the time together.
An Affecting, Amusing Ride
submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 20, 2020, 12:00pm
It's about a family trip to Spain, and everyone has issues. It's funny, sad, and emotional. I think it's the perfect book.
Meh submitted by mandevil on May 13, 2021, 4:06pm It was ok. Not particularly great, but not bad either . Pretty boring privileged family on a trip to a fabulous Mallorcean villa, which is lent by a friend. There is the obligatory gay couple. I had the strongest sympathy for the brother’s girlfriend who can’t quite be accepted into the family. To my mind she was lucky to breakaway
everyone is terrible and that's okay submitted by bjkoch on July 15, 2022, 8:27pm once you accept that every character created their own issues, its still an okay book
