The Hidden Oracle submitted by yaldah on June 24, 2016, 12:48pm As a big fan of all Rick Riordan's books, I was thrilled when I heard this book was coming out and could not wait to be able to get it from the library. When I did finally read it, I was not disappointed.
This book, the first in the author's new series "The Trials of Apollo", is the first of Riordan's work to be told from the point of view of one of the Olympian gods. (Apollo, with a few modern twists to him.) Aside from the fascinating, absorbing quality of the story itself (which was, in my opinion, considerable), I found that this perspective added an extra flavor to the writing which I loved. In this book, Rick Riordan has lost none of his gift for combining adventure with relatability, suspense with humor, and originality with millenia-old mythology. It was a pleasure to revisit old characters from his previous series (seen from a different point of view), and to meet new ones as well, and this book made for a fantastic beginning to a promising new series.
I would definitely have to put The Hidden Oracle towards the top - or even at the very top - of my list of favorite Rick Riordan books, and I'm already eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series!

I am glad that we get to see a different perspective of the same world, and I was also glad that we got to meet Percy once again in this book. I think that it will be really fun to see Apollo change over the course of this series.
