Interesting Story submitted by Beth Manuel on July 25, 2016, 6:34pm I was not familiar with Misty Copeland or her story, so I did find it interesting. If you like biographies and especially stories of defying odds, you should read this book. I especially enjoyed reading about her professional relationship with Prince, and her life growing up.

Inspiring submitted by crp on June 22, 2023, 11:29am This is an inspiring biography written by Misty Copeland with the help of writer Charisse Jones. It's a uniquely individual story of a renowned ballerina (the third Black/African American ballet dancer at the prestigious ABT in NYC) who starts her training much older than most ballerinas, and goes on to defy odds that most would arguably not. The book deftly handles the storytelling of some of the more traumatic moments of her childhood, and allows the reader to get a glimpse into her background without being too detailed and severe. Any parent of an aspiring ballerina or ballet dancer should pick up this book and read it. The photos in the middle of the book are carefully chosen and make a great visual accompaniment to her narrative.
