The Window -- Time Passes -- The Lighthouse.
At their holiday home in Cornwall, a distant lighthouse holds a haunting attraction for the members of an Edwardian family as disillusionment, turmoil, and a world on the brink of war plague the family's relationships.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Seaside scenes submitted by FordAlpha on August 29, 2017, 9:21pm This short, quiet novel uses vignettes spread across the course of years to examine family relationships -- husband and wife, father and child, mother and child, neighbors and visitors. The dream-like style evokes an adult recalling moments from their childhood that shaped their life in ways that are difficult to define. Motifs are repeated over and over, building layers of meaning. This novel is justifiably famous, and the literary craftsmanship is evident. However, it is not to my personal taste; I found it rather tiresome.

My Fav V. Woolf submitted by SaraP on July 8, 2020, 6:49am This book is amazing. It's beautifully written w/ fascinating narrative twists and a very complex look at family like and gender rolls.
