A different take on settling the west.
submitted by rbseemail on October 21, 2022, 8:54am
This book provides a different view of the difficulties of settling the west.
Although told from the white perspective, it describes the personal challenges and issues for both Native Americans and whites. Stories of failure are often ignored in the United States.
Marie Dorion was the only female member of the overland expedition sent by Pacific Fur Company to the Pacific Northwest in 1810. She traveled with 2 toddlers and survived incredible hardship. Her story alone is worth knowing more about.
