Nancy Willard was born in Ann Arbor, and, partly because of this, I have a fondness for her books, which are filled with whimsey and magic.
This is a sweet story about a girl who dearly wants to make a special cake that her mom has requested. Alas, there's no recipe, and her attempts to make the cake are a sorry sight. Fortunately, a few angels drop in and put everything right.
