As I re-read all the P.D. Jameses, ... submitted by lisa on July 9, 2022, 12:26pm ... I am struck by a lot of things about her lens. I used to just be into the sentences, and the detectives (Dalgleish and, in 2 volumes, Gray). Now I laugh at how extremely judgy and looksist her characters are. But in this particular story, I see her breaking out into the action scenes that translate well to TV adaptations. Nice big action finish.

Solidly interesting characters, striking setting, absorbing plot. One of her better ones, plot-wise.

Glad I forget who done it so thoroughly I can read hers over & over.
