Captures a child's voice better than most books I've read submitted by ahayes5 on August 7, 2023, 10:00am thúy's novel follows a Vietnamese girl who immigrates to America in the throes of the Vietnam War. The prose is lush and the first-person, episodic narrative is some of the most successful stream-of-consciousness from a young person's perspective that I've read. More people should know about this book!
