One of Verne’s best-known books ... a true pioneer in modern science fiction submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 16, 2019, 12:13pm Jules Verne was the first bona fide exemplar of modern science fiction. His work is typified by razor-sharp prophecies of scientific and technical developments that were actually within humanity’s grasp at his time. Journey to the Center of the Earth revives the literary custom of the descent into hell, but in the form of science fiction. Verne explores the geothermic formation of the earth's core, and chases the question of whether hot or cold temperatures prevail under the earth's crust.
