Starts a Great Urban Fantasy Series submitted by basketcasemom on June 15, 2013, 9:44pm Toby Daye is a sympathetic character in this world of human and fairy. The story has a real plot and interesting characters. It's not just another series by a romance writer converted to Urban Fantasy.

I love the author and series, but... submitted by Bakalm on August 3, 2019, 2:43am Seanan McGuire is one of my favorite authors, and this book is an excellent introduction to a good urban fantasy series. But it's a bit... Junk food-ish. If you enjoy smart female protagonists, urban fantasy worlds, romances with guys they shouldn't be romancing, and plenty of action McGuire's wonderful. But they blur together--Daye is as good as Price is as good as Rose. Excellent summer reading to turn your brain off

New favorite series! submitted by waffoo2 on June 12, 2023, 9:11pm A friend of mine suggested this book to me, took me a while to get into it but after the second chapter I was hooked! I love the way the author weaves in traditional fantasy characters into the modern world and creates such complex characters you can both love and hate! Can't wait to read the second in the series!

Fan of Seanan McGuire submitted by trina05 on June 20, 2023, 7:52pm I found this author through another one of her series and really enjoyed her writing. Reading the October Daye series is almost like watching bad tv...I really enjoy it, I don't have to take it too seriously, but it's throughly entertaining. Highly recommend it a summer read
