In 1887, the social-climbing Cranstons voyage from New York to London, where they hope to find a husband for their awkward older daughter, secretly accompanied by Helena and her mouse siblings, for whom the journey is both terrifying and wondrous as they meet an array of titled humans despite their best efforts at remaining hidden.

Cute But...Meh submitted by sdunav on July 2, 2012, 4:28pm This is a cute but not very deep middle-grade story about a family of mice traveling across the ocean from Massachusetts to England in 1897. The main character is the eldest sister mouse.

There are some really nice touches in the mouse "world", but Peck also did a few things that annoyed me. I didn't expect this to win any awards (and it didn't), but it would be a nice book to suggest for reading for a 8 y.o. or so, especially a girl, who likes historic fiction.
