Awful! submitted by jgetty on December 10, 2010, 12:15pm I'm a huge fan of Sue Grafton and have read all her books. I was very disappointed with this U because it was so stupid and dull. Maybe Sue Grafton is getting worn out. The book was super fluffy and boring, and didn't hook me in like the others. I've got my fingers crossed that V will be better, and back to the good stuff.
Good, but Needs More Kinsey

Kinsey is the best part of Sue Grafton's mysteries, so any book that strays from her point of view will not be my favorite. But U is for Undertow was a decent outing - Grafton split chapters between other narrators and flashbacks from the present in the 1980s to the 1960s.
The question of unreliable narrators comes into play, and there's an interesting question of the reliability of childhood memories. As always, it comes to a clear and exciting conclusion that the reader likely didn't see coming. It's always great to see Kinsey's resourcefulness as a researcher (especially without the aid of a cell phone or Google) and I enjoyed seeing her chase down leads on a very cold case. That Kinsey. She's awfully clever.
u submitted by a2sue on August 26, 2013, 10:50pm i enjoyed this book, courtesy of kinsey millhone. i'm hoping that when sue grafton comes to the end of the alphabet she finds some way to continue the series.
Confusing! submitted by Cloverdale on July 9, 2016, 8:40am I found this book convoluted & difficult to follow. I liked hopping back in time, but honestly, I had to look up the book on a spoiler site to have the ending explained.
