"Merry Gentry, ex-private detective, now full-time princess, knew she was descended from fertility goddesses, but when she learned she was about to have triplets, she began to understand what that might mean. Infertility has plagued the high ranks of faerie for centuries. Now nobles of both courts of faerie are coming to court Merry and her men, at their home in exile in the Western Lands of Los Angeles, because they will do anything to have babies of their own. Taranis, King of Light and Illusion, is a more dangerous problem. He tried to seduce Merry and, failing that, raped her. He's using the human courts to sue for visitation rights, claiming that one of the babies is his. And though Merry knows she was already pregnant when he took her, she can't prove it. To save herself and her babies from Taranis she will use the most dangerous powers in all of faerie: a god of death, a warrior known as the Darkness, the Killing Frost, and a king of nightmares. They are her lovers, and her dearest loves, and they will face down the might of the high courts of faerie--while trying to keep the war from spreading to innocent humans in Los Angeles, who are in danger of becoming collateral damage" -- from publisher's web site.

Decent, but Disappointing submitted by mrajraspn08 on June 24, 2014, 9:29am I was excited to finally read the next book in this series. I was less excited by the end. The writing style is sloppier than the earlier books, and the plot is slow, with far less action. The characters are still wonderful, and there's a few developments that readers will find interesting, even exciting. Hamilton hadn't planned this book, though, and it shows, reading more like an epilogue to the series than as a continuation.

kinda disappointed submitted by eli7416 on July 19, 2014, 4:53pm As an avid fan of the Merry Gentry series I was excited to explore the newest adventures of Merry and her men. What I discovered was a bit disappointing. The main story line seemed shallow and slow and often non-existent. There were many side plots that could have been explored in more detail that would have enriched the story. I left this book with many questions. The areas of the story that were expanded were done seamlessly and were reminiscent of the earlier books. All negative aside the book was a fun read.

Fun submitted by hollieesper121573 on August 5, 2016, 5:13pm I agree with the other reviews and that it wasn't quite as good the rest in the series. However I was so excited to read the next in the series since it had been so long between. I thought maybe there would not be any more and because of that I did really enjoy the book.
