Real Life Squirrel Illustrations! (Not Taxidermy) submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 9:51pm This picture book has a serviceable story about a pair of squirrels celebrating Christmas, but its real charm lies in its illustrations, which are photographs of real-life squirrels interacting with custom sets. I did notice a few pages where the squirrels were noticeably different, but it’s difficult to complain when the next spread shows you a squirrel with a tiny snowblower. The story may be uninspired but the illustrations go above and beyond and it’s incredibly impressive what Nancy Rose can do with a few squirrel-sized props and her imagination.
