Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty? In studying the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world, Simon Sinek discovered that they all think, act, and communicate in the exact same way-and it's the complete opposite of what everyone else does. People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why. Drawing on a wide range of real-life stories, Sinek weaves together a clear vision of what it truly takes to lead and inspire.

Great premise - redundant material submitted by jletaw on August 26, 2017, 4:00pm See the author's TEDx talk, and skip the book. Most of the material is redundant and not particularly well written.

Overrated: one key point and lots of fluff submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on June 23, 2020, 10:35am Identifies the difference between “giving direction and giving directions.” Great leaders, he explains, motivate with the WHY, a deep-rooted purpose, before defining the WHAT, the product or service, or the HOW, the process. Overpromoted book. Not recommended.

I agree with the first review submitted by smgop on August 3, 2020, 8:25pm His TedX talk sums his message up completely and is much more compelling (and succinct).

Sounds like we're all in agreement submitted by dpersonke on August 8, 2023, 9:10am I agree with what many others have said here, Simon's ideas are quite interesting, but the book reads like a short TED talk turned into a long book..... because thats exactly what it it. It really struggles to expand on the original thoughts in any meaningful way.

As someone else said: "Skip the book, watch the TED Talk."
