Exceptional. Very worth reading. submitted by rats on September 20, 2020, 5:42am The first book is the only novel written by Langston Hughes. It is superb. Exceptional. I can't believe they didn't include it in Duke University's American literature curriculum when I was there. It is as good as any novel by William Faulkner. I first listened to the audio book version. It helps with the dialect. I cried when one of the characters died. I can't say I usually do that. I say it now so folks know that Hughes' characters are incredibly vital and memorable.
