Best book ever!! submitted by backstroke on August 14, 2007, 5:17pm Best book ever!!! Don't judge by size. Magic and enchantment. Book for 10+.

Awesome Book!!!!!! submitted by elligur on September 7, 2008, 2:12pm The best fantasy novel I have read in a long time. Extremely vivid details, and an epic plot full of adventure and mystery. A great read.

Warm cocoa on a cold day submitted by SarahRose on December 16, 2009, 9:26am This is a great choice for kids and teens who voraciously consume fantasy novels. It's like a sequel to the fantasy series you wished would never end. The world of Alagaesia is familiar enough to fantasy lovers to be as comfortable as an old chair that has molded to your shape. All the fantasy races are recognizable, making the characters feel like the relatives of old friends. Paolini's storytelling gift can hold its own against the talents of J. K. Rowling, Frank Herbert, and Phillip Pullman. There's an obvious influence from Tolkien, and all the adventure you could wish for.

eragon submitted by nasuaada on June 21, 2011, 12:39pm Its a long book, and it takes patience to finish, but altogether is a good book

Wonderful submitted by bfreiband on July 8, 2011, 3:24pm This is the first book in my favorite series in existence (Okay, I lied. It's on par with Harry Potter). It's difficult to put into words how great this book is, and I really don't want to give anything away, so let me just say that if you like reading fantasy, you MUST read this book, and the rest of the series.

fantastic submitted by Zhengyang1022 on July 14, 2011, 3:57pm This book is really long, and the font is really small, but its one of my favorite fantasies i've ever read. Its like an ongoing adventure around the mythical land of Agniesia.

Shouldn't read until middle school years or later submitted by Josie Brown on July 15, 2013, 11:11am I first read this in 5th grade which was a big mistake. I was bored and confused with the story, and I didn't enjoy it. I later read it in 7th grade and understood the book a lot more. Great series!

Awesome start submitted by foxridgect on July 29, 2013, 8:53pm This book kicked off an amazing series, and really got me hooked. Amazing job!

brilliant submitted by isaacbrooks on August 5, 2013, 7:05am definitely a must-read!

In the beginning... submitted by KSB2013 on June 17, 2014, 8:48pm Great first book in the series, teens and preteens will like. Content okay for preteens.

Awesome Book! submitted by Ayaldia3600 on June 18, 2014, 11:34am First book in the Inheritance Cycle. Draws ideas from Tolkien, Le Guin, and other fantasy writers to create a brilliantly spun tale.

Not original, but a good story submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 10, 2014, 1:48pm When I read this, I thought, "Not terribly original, but a good story that's well told. I'll definitely read the rest of the trilogy." I mean, it's humans, elves, dwarves, monster-y thugs (think orcs), and dragons. And magic, of course. What self-respecting elf-and-dragon story doesn't have magic? (See what I mean about not terribly original?) And 15 year olds who save the world. But it's a YA book, so of course for that, too.

And then I found out it was written by a 15 year old. Holy moly!

Though, geez, couldn't somebody have convinced him if he was going to rip off _Lord of the Rings_ that he should have left Aragorn's (as Eragon's) name alone?

I have to say, though. When my 9 year old read this, he thought it was the best thing ever written.

great book submitted by naturej1girl on July 12, 2015, 2:32pm I love the series, the adventure, magic... add up to make a great first book in a amazing series

eragon & saphira submitted by KlezmerGirl on August 30, 2015, 5:00pm this is a good book I read it a couple weeks ago & cant forget it, it is that good!!!!!!!!. the book is your typical good fantasy story about a boy who finds a dragons egg, it then hatches for him meaning he is now dragon rider!. i told my friend to read it & he said i know but i cant yet, i'm busy reading other books! i said hurry and read it it's great! & that is what i'm telling you to, go on read its great!

hmmm... submitted by downing on June 18, 2016, 12:58pm It felt like a LOTR rip off, but I couldn't put it down...

love submitted by verditt on August 23, 2016, 5:02pm great book love the fantasy element

Amazing submitted by peterflorence on June 16, 2017, 1:44pm Amazing book about a boy and his dragon, and the adventures they go on.

amazing!!!!! submitted by eliadler on June 17, 2017, 3:12pm i really liked this book. my favorite character was the dragon.

Incredible submitted by ferielp on August 9, 2017, 11:59am Good world-building and character populating. Well-written and complex seeing as it was written by Paolini right after he graduated high school.

AWESOMENESS book submitted by msarah on August 16, 2017, 6:55pm This was a great book and I am glad that I read it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy adventure.

Fun Fantasy Book submitted by steveiew on June 27, 2018, 11:01am If you enjoy a good fantasy book, Eragon (and the rest of the series) is for you! Dragons and Elves fill the story with magic and excitement. In a lot of ways this is a coming of age story for Eragon as he learns more about his family and who he really is.

Fun fantasy submitted by lballard on July 2, 2018, 5:17am This book is fantasy book which encourages people to do what is right despite the odds. It’s writing is so so. Some parents may have a problem with it because it encourages atheism, vegetarianism, and meditation.

Dragons! submitted by elta1 on August 11, 2018, 8:59pm A very good read! Highly recommend

Good book submitted by jasonc1177 on July 31, 2019, 8:02pm Great author and amazing book!…………

Eragon submitted by Sarahcaps on August 18, 2020, 7:28pm This is a stunning story about dragons and their riders. In this book Eragon and his dragon Saphira begin their adventures. Worth reading and then re reading!

Great submitted by julie.endress on June 10, 2022, 1:15pm Great book!!,!,!!!!!,!

Great start to a fantasy series submitted by gf94 on June 18, 2022, 4:38pm Excellent debut by Christopher Paolini. Intricate world building and magic system. Writing is descriptive but not distracting. Of note, some people do say this series can be derivative of LOTR, but I have personally not read those so can’t speak to that.

Eragon submitted by amtorrey on July 19, 2022, 3:02pm I read this book as a 4th grader and I liked it a lot. I would say great for all ages!

Great start to a great series submitted by Nehemiah9 on August 20, 2022, 4:00pm This series is really great, with so much detail and character development. This is a great start to the series as it sets up the world and the main characters. My only caveat is that it's a bit violent so I wouldn't recommend it for younger kids (so maybe 12 or 13 would be good) as it has lots of very descriptive scenes of violence and torture (although I can't recall if I'm thinking of books 2, 3 and 4 and maybe less so for this one.

A cut above most fantasy works submitted by frogger154 on July 17, 2023, 1:55pm I personally really enjoyed Eragon because of the immense detail and descriptiveness in the book. The characters' emotions feel raw and unhinged and very real; the storyline emphasizes really important moments in a way that keeps the plot moving without going too fast that it pulls the confused reader along from event to event.

Amazing Book! submitted by yxj214 on August 24, 2023, 4:20pm If you are a fast reader, this book is amazing! It is basically Lord of the Rings but better. This storytelling is enough to compare to J.K. Rowling and J.R.R Tolkien. Only read if you are at least in middle school, or else this book will seem terrible.
