Varying quality, as happens with anthologies submitted by terpsichore17 on July 16, 2019, 1:29pm This collection grew from good intentions. Some of the stories are mostly acquisitive or curative, which is *tremendously* off-putting; others are better at taking ACD material or references and playing with it, giving other points of view or setting it somewhere new. Thankfully the second half of the collection was stronger than the first half.

If you only have time for a few stories before returning this to the library, go with Gaiman's compelling "The Case of Death and Honey" or Charles Todd's "The Case that Holmes Lost." "The Adventure of the Concert Pianist" is a common enough conceit but tidy.

If you have time for most but not all, skip "The Adventure of the Purloined Paget" (ugh, I hate every man in this locked room) or "The Mysterious Case of the Unwritten Short Story" (?? why is this even here).
