what a pity submitted by geneslibrary on March 21, 2017, 10:39am F. Paul Wilson should have stuck with the Jack the Repairman series, in my opinion. Those were interesting stories. Whatever other storylines he has tried to develop have suffered from some lack that escaped the JTR series. Thus I had to stop reading Panacea after about a hundred pages. The writing is pretty stark in terms of what is perceived as good or evil. The presentation is heavy handed (these are the people behaving badly: see them behaving badly? see them behaving even more badly? bad bad bad.) The seemingly good guys are nearly silent (that is why I'd say 'seemingly good': Wilson doesn't give us enough to make that decision in the first third of the book). I couldn't relate to any of the characters and that always bothers me when reading fiction. I started Panacea because of familiarity with the author. What I'm learning is that F. Paul's writing cannot be counted on for what is to me a good story.
