Glad I Read It - Once submitted by slugwhisperer on August 19, 2014, 9:05pm So, this is Sir Terry's first attempt at a novel. Definitely a struggle to get through. But glad I did as his vast imagination was certainly in effect. There were a few enjoyable bits scattered here and there.

the short story version was better submitted by camelsamba on August 28, 2016, 11:08pm Earlier this summer we listened to a collection of Pratchett short stories. One of those stories was an earlier version of The Carpet People - that's what inspired me to check out this book. Unfortunately, the book itself did not hold my attention as much as the short story. It basically boiled down to a lot of battles, and clashes between cultures and civilizations. It had a lot less of the intriguing bits about life on The Carpet.

At the conclusion of the novel, those early short stories appeared again. You know what? They were just as good the second time. Skip the novel version and just read those.
