Unreliable Narrator, Solid Writing
submitted by Sara W on June 21, 2011, 12:30am
This book very successfully takes the reader into the mind of a not-necessarily stable individual. McCarthy smoothly brings the reader into the main character's mind, which may be why it is so difficult to fully comprehend the character's descent into madness until close to the end.
This is a very well-written book, but the subject matter is distinctly weird. Readers who appreciate books that question identity and rationality will definitely enjoy this books' skillful build-up and unsettling finale.

Great submitted by jibkidder on June 23, 2022, 8:14pm Much like Synecdoche New York, and although plenty different, it does call to mind some of Charlie Kaufman's postmodern idea-nesting, this book investigates re-enactment, memory and desire in style that is singular and engrossing.
