Second of a highly recommended series submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 23, 2012, 3:26pm SPOILER ALERT WARNING!
In his second of "The Laundry" series, a sci fi spoof on James Bond novels, Charles Stross brings back geeky hero Bob (not the character's real name because he's now a secret agent). The plot line for this book is complicated, so read prequel "The Atrocity Archives" before you read "The Jennifer Morgue" (and yes, as someone named Jennifer, I found the title creepy).
Bob, along with roommatecolleagues Pinky and the Brain (their code names/nick names as they are a gay couple) and sweetheart Mo, must--yet again--save the day from demons.
I highly recommend this and all other books by this author! He spoofs the British government, homophobia, sexism and much more in these intense yet hilarious novels.
This book also contains a bonus short story at the end.

Thoroughly enjoyable submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 17, 2021, 11:51pm More in the same universe as _The Atrocity Archives_, and again very well done, but with less horror. And when I summarized these as Ghostbusters plus The Matrix, no wonder Scott kept adding James Bond.
