When the eighth grade civics class of Miami's Culver Middle School goes on a trip to Washington, D.C., Wyatt Palmer finds himself in deep trouble before the plane even lands because his best friend, Matt, has decided the men sitting behind them are terrorists and it is up to the boys to stop them.

Dave Barry has the pulse of middle schooler logic submitted by valeriemates on June 20, 2021, 10:59am I'm an adult and a longtime fan of Dave Barry's humor columns. I picked up this book because I was curious to see what he is writing now. It's about an airplane full of middle schoolers who go on a field trip to Washington DC. Dave Barry has a strong sense of the logic and decisionmaking skills of middle schoolers. The students think that they have spotted a terrorist plot, and because they are kids they know that nobody is going to believe them, so they decide to foil the terrorists themselves. Some really wild events follow, with a gorgeous romp through historic locations in Washington DC. The climax of the book left an amazing picture in my head that is going to stick with me, in a good way, for a *long* time.

Whether or not you are in middle school, I recommend this book!
